KIN-BREEDING:

  • Invincible Spirit can be described as ‘the universal stallion’.
  • His progeny ratings by distance vary little from short to long – legacy perhaps of the combination of his sprinter/miler sire Green Desert and Oaks-winning dam.
  • The pedigrees of the stallion’s best progeny throw up a variety of common ancestors in their female lines. One is Hyperion (and his female line relatives through his dam Selene and grandam Serenissima), notable in his Australian champion sire-son I Am Invincible. Other re-occurring lines are Lalun (through Never Bend, Mill Reef, Sadler’s Wells), Sir Gaylord, Nijinsky, Ahonoora. The dam of Green Desert has Sir Gaylord and Never Bend as her two grand-sires.
  • The pedigree of Invincible Spirit’s multiple Gr1 winning daughter Nazeef is instructive in all respects. The sequence of contributing sires in her dam Handassa being Dubawi, Diktat, Most Welcome, Mansingh, Derring-Do, Rockefella.

Pedigree

The female line of Digital Age traces to multiple champion racemare Time Charter (Timeform 131), who like Invincible Spirit was the product of a top sprint-sire and an Oaks winning dam. Time Charter is closely kin-bred, with Hyperion a major feature, notably through Aureole (via Vienna) and close kin relative High Hat (via High Line) in Time Charter’s dam Centrocon.

The subsequent build-up of the female line introduced Lalun (via Never Bend/Mill Reef/Shirley Heights and Bold Reason/Sadler’s Wells), Sir Gaylord (via Lassie Dear/Lemon Drop Kid).

Suitable Lines

SUITABLE LINES for Digital Age could include

  • multiples of Hyperion and his female line ancestors incl Pharamond, Sickle, Bosworth, All Moonshine, etc; these lines are widespread; noted in this context are Aureole (incl Vienna/Vaguely Noble), High Line, High Hat, Star Kingdom - leading to Gimmethegreenlight, Ideal World, Horse Chestnut, Flower Alley, Oratorio, Canford Cliffs, Indigo Magic, etc
  • Lalun, through Never Bend (Mill Reef, Shirley Heights), Bold Reason (Sadler’s Wells) – leading to Casey Tibbs (!), Fort Wood (Horse Chestnut, Elusive Fort), Imperial Stride, Indigo Magic, Querari, Canford Cliffs, Alado, Potala Palace, Trippi, Pathfork, etc.
  • Sir Gaylord, widespread, but noted through Lassie Dear, Sir Ivor, Dancing Brave – leading to Al Mufti (Captain Al, etc), Duke Of Marmalade, Mambo In Seattle, Erupt, Potala Palace, Querari, Count duBois, Imperial Stride, etc.
  • Nijinsky (Caerleon), and close relative The Minstrel – leading to Twice Over, Indigo Magic, Erupt, Elusive Fort, Ideal World, Silvano (Vercingetorix), Count duBois, etc (NB Nijinsky appears to be strikingly effective when in combination with his close kin Mr Prospector)
  • Ahonoora (Lorenzaccio) – leading to What A Winter, Imperial Stride, Green Desert sons Great Britain & Cape Cross (Sea The Stars), Lancaster Bomber, Linngari, etc.
