KIN-BREEDING - This is a solid sire producing female line, with bottom female line ancestor Bold Irish the key. The remarkable make-up of this mare makes her kin to a selection of key-ancestors in major sires. Bold Irish is from the same female line as Brave Tin Soldier’s sire Storm Cat (Fam 8) and is close kin to First Bloom and Rare Bloom in Storm Cat’s female line. Bold Irish is close kin to Miss Dogwood, Mr Prospector’s key female line ancestor. Bold Irish is close kin to Pas de Nom, dam of Danzig. Bold Irish is close kin to Mother Goose, grandam of Almahmoud (female line ancestor of Northern Dancer, Halo, Danehill), and to Flaring Top, grandam of Nijinsky. The list goes on.
The lines converge in Brave Tin Soldier. His 3rd dam Rowdy Angel is by Halo. She’s dam of Gr1 winner & sire Pine Bluff (by Danzig), full brother to Angel Fever, the 2nd dam of Brave Tin Soldier. Angel Fever is dam of Gr1 winner & sire Fusaichi Pegasus (by Mr Prospector), full brother to the dam of Brave Tin Soldier – who is by Storm Cat.

Pedigree
This appears to be an example of excellence being passed on from a dam who closely kin-bred through bottom-female line ancestors. In this case Rabada’s dam Jordie, who is kinbred 4x3 Loren x Majority Blue. Loren is closely kinbred herself, and hails from the Dalmary female line, here coming through the sequence of Jennydang, Erica Fragrance, Phoenissa – which in the local context leads to Golden Thatch, and internationally to Lorenzaccio (sire of Ahonoora), Thatch, and to Sadler’s Wells (sire of Jordie’s damsire Braashee), Nureyev, Fairy King. Majority Blue is by Welsh Harmony (locally a force in sire National Emblem) out of Preamble-mare Majorca who won the Paddock Stakes.
Jordie’s sire Fard is now the broodmare sire of two new stallions, the other champion sprinter Captain Of All (Captain Al) whose first crop will be 2yo’s in 2019. There are intriguing similarities between Captain Of All’s dam Serious Side and the combo of Loren and Majority Blue. The female line elements of Captain Of All’s sire Captain Al fit the pattern.
Of interest is Fard’s best progeny, which includes the filly Poppy (dam by Harry Hotspur, 3rd dam by Drum Beat; female line of Al Mufti’s champion Victory Moon), and Gr1 Norinco (dam by Northern Guest (Buckpasser), 2nd dam by Welsh Pageant who is Tudor Melody x Court Martial, with Abernant in the bottom line).
Suitable Lines
SUITABLE LINES for Rabada could include
- kin-links like those found in Captain Al’s 3rd dam Beylic, incl Court Martial (Elliodor, Model Man, etc. – widespread), Abernant (Golden Thatch/ Goldmark, etc. – widespread), Tudor Melody (Welsh Harmony, National Emblem, etc. – widespread), Welsh Pageant, Drum Beat, Mexico/Harry Hotspur, New South Wales, Persian Wonder, Preamble, Averof/Foveros, Mixed Marriage (Gone West/ Western Winter, etc.), Derring Do/Roland Gardens, Petition (Danzig – widespread), Regent Street, Bush Telegraph (London News), Dominion Royale, etc.
- Then there’s the link to the Dalmary female line, through Golden Thatch, Lorenzaccio/Ahonoora, Sadler’s Wells and close relatives Fairy King, Nureyev.
- Of couse Rabada’s male line cannot be ruled out. Elements of note from Brave Tin Soldier’s pedigree make-up include Mr Prospector, Danzig, Halo, Northern Dancer, Buckpasser, Seattle Slew. In this context Lecture looks interesting, especially if he can be had in the already successful combo with Al Mufti (noted above as sire of Victory Moon; Al Mufti’s dam is by Buckpasser. Also, mares whose bottom female line provides close links to Bold Irish (see above under SIRE LINE) could be an option.
