Hawwaam’s dam Halfway To Heaven was voted Champion Broodmare after producing 3 Gr1 winning sons from different stallions. This daughter of Jet Master may well be the driving force behind the pedigree of Hawwaam.
The female line traces to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Kyloe (Blandford), who is half sister to 2000 Guineas winner & sire Admiral’s Walk (Hyperion). Kyloe is dam of Northumbria (Nearco), female line ancestress of Hawwaam.
Kyloe also produced Staward (Hyperion), a mare imported to South Africa – residing at Mauritzfontein she produced SA Derby winner Open Sea (Janus), Champion Stakes winners Kimberley Kid and Stalwart (both by Wilwyn).
Another daughter of Kyloe, Hyrcania (by Hyperion) is ancestress of the mare Claradane (Australian-bred, by Danehill) who had producing daughters in South Africa – Lempicka (who got only colts) and Morisot (with five daughters).
Kyloe is closely kinbred and in make-up is close kin to Selene, dam of Hyperion. Her daughter Northumbria is close kin to Nasrullah and Nearctic.
Interestingly, one of the best runners in the family is Sapience (multiple English Gr2 winner and runner-up in the St Leger; Timeform 124) - his sire Niniski is also sire of Lomitas, Silvano’s sire.
